Mike BartoszekFollow Mike on instagram @mikebartoszek For September it was cool, don't get me wrong it was still hot but not that standard September melting hot that we're used to. The weather was great and helped to bring out thousands of people to taste wine, food and beer while enjoying cooking demos, live music, live sculpting, vendors and more. Kicking off the live demonstrations was Lily Halabi of Lily's Cakes in Harker Heights. Demonstrating how to ice and shape a cake, Lily led a crowd in her "secret" methods of creating those beautiful cakes. The culinary red carpet was rolled out for our judges, with competitors cooking, brewing and crafting the perfect samples all trying to win over the taste buds of the judges to take home the winning medal. A few thousand guests were estimated to have cycled through the gates at the event visiting dozens of our vendors, wine makers, craft breweries, food trucks and artists making the event one of the most successful Food, Wine and Brew Festivals yet.

Author- Mike BartoszekEarly last Friday morning we welcomed Jimmy and Cindi Ferguson into our Harker Heights Chamber family, with a ribbon cutting at their new McDonald's Restaurant on Knights Way by Harker Heights High School and the Neighborhood Walmart. ,We were all blown away with how modern this new building was. From the decor, to the kitchen to the way you can order food, it was sleek, modern, and high tech. For the first time in most of our lives, we got to order food from a kiosk and like usual, I chose the Bacon egg and cheese Mcgriddle my go to McDonald's breakfast meal. ![]() A giant surprise for most of us was how serious they are about their Farm to Table program. Sourcing ingredients from farmers across the state and nation bringing only the freshest produce they can find right from the farm, to your table. The building was sleek, modern and clean, with a hand painted and localized mural in the play area exemplifying Jimmy & Cindi's promise to be strong community members. July 18th we teamed up with our Harker Heights Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers to host an ice cream social for the great residents at Rosewood Retirement Community. We all had a great time sharing stories and eating far more frozen custard than we should have!
